Whitedown Cottage is a wonderfully characterful project that captures the charm of a classic English cottage while infusing it with a fresh, contemporary spirit and a distinctly French sensibility. Not So Gray was tasked with creating an interior that honoured the architecture of the original building while bringing it firmly into the present day.

The design draws on a palette of soft whites, chalky blues and warm natural tones — the quintessential ingredients of French country style — given an updated edge through considered fabric choices and clean, unfussy lines. Made-to-measure curtains in fine printed fabrics sit alongside beautifully crafted blinds, all specified to enhance the natural light that floods the cottage's charming windows. The finished interior is relaxed, elegant and completely individual.
